Frequently Asked Questions

Convictions

Colorado law requires that you disclose all misdemeanor and/or felony criminal convictions including those based on a plea of no contest, except for misdemeanor traffic offenses.

You must disclose this information each time you apply with CDE even you have disclosed them previously. You are also required to upload the police and court documents even if you have uploaded them in the past. Always keep those documents in your own personal files for use on any future applications with CDE. CDE does not retain documents on your behalf; they are used for the evaluation of a particular application and then destroyed for your protection.

Failure to disclose or re-disclose a conviction and upload all of the required documentation will significantly increase the processing time of your application, or until it expires 90 days from the application date.
